JOB TITLE: Accounts Assistant

Role Purpose:
The Accounts Assistant will be a key part of our small finance team, reporting to the Finance Manager in ensuring the efficient and smooth running of the finance function

Key Accountabilities

  • Register and Process Invoices using Sage 200.
  • Registering and Processing credit notes
  • Preparing BACS payment runs
  • Making payments through Sage and Banking systems
  • Preparing and Sending Invoices for approval/payment
  • Nominal coding allocations
  • Statement reconciliation
  • Dealing with PO/PO enquiries
  • Processing cheque requests
  • Contractor payments
  • Matching, batching, coding invoices
  • Aspects of credit control
  • Cash allocation/forecasting
  • Entering journals
  • Setting up client accounts
  • Managing credit accounts and credit limits
  • Reconciling accounts

This is not meant to be an exhaustive list, the job holder may be required to undertake such other duties as Management may from time to time reasonably require.


Measures of success 

Individual specific measures will be developed as part of supervision and appraisal. Examples may include (but are not restricted to) the following:

  • Specific examples of project work/tasks that develop and promote the company.

  • Actions that may include – security of information (locking cabinets, use of encrypted ICT).
  • Audits of information security.
  • Awareness of data protection requirements.
  • Personal presentation.

  • Documentary evidence (accident forms, first aid reporting).
  • Direct observation of practice.

Experience and Knowledge

Minimum of 2 years experience of using Sage 200

Education & Training

ACCA/AAT part qualified E

BTEC National Diploma/Equivalent in Business E
Good level of GCSE qualification.
